Is it that time of the month? Are you having major breakout moments? Pimples are annoying. Sometimes even your basic skin care routine just won’t work. Maybe it’s also because of the facial skincare products you’ve been using. It may be a bit harsh on your skin.

According to some dermatologists, breakouts usually occur because of stress, dehydration, high humidity, or your skincare order. But most of the time, this happens because of women’s fluctuating hormones. Don’t worry, here’s a checklist on how to prevent zits from coming your way:

1. Always cleanse your face

Washing your face is important. Use a foam cleanser that is sulfate-free, alcohol-free, and mild enough to use daily. Derma suggests always using a cleanser for combination skin types.

Tip#1: Wet your face with warm water to open your pores, and use cold water to clog it.

2. Sunscreen is a must for acne prone skin!

The sun has UV rays that may cause hyperpigmentation or discolouration. Always put on sunscreen whether going out or not. Dermatologists suggest that sunscreen for oily skin should be non-comedogenic and oil-free.

3. Stay hydrated

Always make sure to drink plenty of water, at least 6-8 glasses per day. Trust me, your skin will thank you in a week.

4. Limit your makeup

As much as we want to cover pimples, it’s a big NO! During breakouts, it’s not advisable to wear foundation, concealer, or powder. Give your face some time to breathe.

5. Stop touching your face

Our hands touch a lot of things. This can transfer bacteria or may irritate your zits more. Always wash your hands and try not to touch your face often.
